Aufwiedersehen Switzerland

Climbing in the Snow

Climbing in the Snow Gottardo

We have spent over a month now in Magic wood, and we quickly slipped into a lazy routine. Up at mid-day, a bit a sunbathing, wash/swim in the river then climb till dark. Perfect and I think this is the cleanest I have been for the whole trip so far. We have had some brilliant laughs, our friends Mauritz and Matthew kept us entertained for hours with their minstrel sized guitar and hilarious on the spot motivation songs about climbs. There is nothing as funny as climbing a problem with Mauritz providing a live backing track and singing about your effort. However, our musical inspiration has left for home now and we have spent the last week trying to wrap up all our outstanding projects (with little success) it’s too difficult to avoid getting distracted by other climbs. In the last week we also had a lovely treat in the form of a couple of mates popping out to see us; they arrived bearing most of ASDA as a care package, courtesy of the mother ship.

They even had some clean clothes, which together with my new found cleanliness makes me look almost respectable. We had a fantastic few days exploring the Viamala Canyon, hiking at Gottardo Pass, marmot spotting and investigating hidden anti-aircraft guns at Gottardo.

On the final day we did some well-deserved sunbathing with ice cream to top it off. As always we have compiled a little summary video of our time spent in Magic Wood, so check it out if you fancy a giggle at Mauritz and Matthews musical genius, and our terrible rendition of Britney Spears. I apologise in advance to the non-climbers amongst you, the video is mainly climbing with several bits of stupidity in between. We had so much great footage from our time spent in the woods, it was so hard cutting it down. I have done a shorter video summary with more photographs and a lot less climbing for those who don’t care for watching people climb around on rocks 🙂

The Climbing Version..

The Non-Climber version… You may find a little climbing in it 🙂

We are back on the road today, and heading into the Austrian Meadows for some Sound of Music action and maybe a little climbing. Hopefully the lovely sunny weather will last just a little longer while we explore Austria.
